Electromagnetism Challenge #3 — Electrical Power

The power rating
of a heater.

Electromagnetism Medium

Problem

An electric heater plugged into the 230 V mains draws a steady current of 10 A. Calculate its power rating, in kilowatts.

  • Mains voltage\( V = 230\ \mathrm{V} \)
  • Current\( I = 10\ \mathrm{A} \)
  • Answer inkilowatts
Assume the voltage and current stay steady.
Hint: electrical power is voltage times current: \( P = VI \). Watch the unit the answer is asked for.
